Yes folks, we are coming up to June very fast and that means the fun filled Youth camp. We had a terrific response at the last prayer class and already have 19 kids all set to go.

This camp is for 6-16 year olds from Friday evening, June 1 – 3rd, ending with the June religious class.

A good Friday night dinner will be followed by a hike on Saturday morning up Bear Mountain. Some of the younger children can climb halfway and then play by the lake.

After a scrumptious pizza meal on the way back, we will have a relaxing afternoon followed by a water fight, weather permitting. After dinner, we often light a large bonfire and have smores to everyone’s satisfaction. For Sunday morning, we plan a big brunch, followed by sports on the front lawn and cleanup, ending with circle time at the religious class.

This is a wonderful opportunity for getting the younger youth together, to have a great time, bonding together and forge friendships. We look forward to having all the youth participate. Please email shiroy@zagny.org for all confirmations and questions regarding the event.

After years of discussion, a group of community members have rationalized that a new building makes the most sense, got commitments of $400,000 from die-hard supporters and approached DMZT/IZA/ZAGNY with their thought process to get their initial support to investigate this initiative further. The result is the New Darbe-Mehr Initiative (NDMI) LLC, a business entity which would spend the collected funds, rather than DMZT community funds, to explore this idea and opportunity. After more than 6 months of design options and a string of meetings with DMZT/IZA/ZAGNY we are finally at a point where we have a Building design which meets the needs identified by these organizations. We have very rough preliminary cost estimates and some preliminary pledges which make the whole proposition exciting and certainly doable with wide participation.

We would like to present and discuss this project with the entire community on May 1st, 2011. It should be noted that this is a starting point and detailed design, detailed engineering, firm cost estimates etc. are all pending. DMZT/IZA/ZAGNY committees will continue to be intimately involved and when all of the information is available DMZT will conduct detailed due diligence before going to the community with its recommendation and the community’s approval. We encourage all members of the Zoroastrian Community to please come and participate in the presentations and discussions –

The elected officials are as follows

A lot of the new Board are continuing members from the previous board. This affords ZAGNY the benefit of continuity especially with the upcoming NAZC 2012 in seventeen months.

At the same time Gev Nentin took the opportunity to thank the outgoing members of the 2008 – 2011 Board. Behroz Dutia, Keki Dadachanji, Ferzin Patel, Dinyar Kalvachwala and Pervin Tata-Lobo bid adieu to the Board and their involvement and contribution for the last three years was greatly appreciated by all the members.

Ferzin Patel transitions into her role as Co-Chair of the 16th North American Zarathushti Congress that ZAGNY will host in August 2012. Keki continues as the Program Committee Chair for the Congress. Behroz continues as an integral member of the Logistics Committee for the Congress.

NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE DARBE MEHR ZOROASTRIAN TEMPLE AT POMONA, NEW YORK

Notice is hereby posted that the Annual General Meeting of the Darbe Mehr Zoroastrian Temple will be held on Sunday, May 1st, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Arbab Rustom Guiv Darbe Mehr located at 106 Pomona Road, Suffern, NY to conduct the following business:

1. Presentation of the Annual Report.
2. Approval of the Treasurer’s Report.
3. Election of Trustees.
4. Any other Business.

ELECTION OF TRUSTEES:

The election for the trustees will be conducted independently by the election committee appointed for the purpose.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS:
In the interest of time, congregation members, who may want to bring up any other pertinent business that concerns the congregation or the Darbe Mehr’s well-being, are requested to submit this in writing to the Board of Trustees no later than March 31st, 2011. This would be conducted after the election procedure for the Trustees has been completed as this could be fairly open ended in terms of time.

The logo should be a unique design and should incorporate representation of the theme of our Congress event. Your submission needs to be provided in a JPEG file with a brief description about the representation of the logo.

-Keep it simple. Your logo should be scalable to any size without losing any image quality or visual impact.
-Typography is crucial. Your font’s legibility must be of primary concern. Typefaces are selected for their distinctive character, variety of weights, widths and proportions.
-Your logo should not be more than 2-3 colors.
-Make sure your logo design works well in black and white as well as color.
-A witty slogan or tag line can complement your logo well, imparting a sense of personality.

This logo will be used on all publicity materials including the program for this event. Each contestant may submit up to three different creations.

The winner will be selected by the Public Relations Committee in consultation with the ZAGNY Board. The winner will receive recognition in the event program. All submitted entries will be retained by the ZAGNY Board. The submissions should be made by 30th June 2010 to
