There have been several reports in the media about the joint resignations of four Trustees. It is a fact that policy differences had arisen among the Trustees leading to this most unfortunate development, quite unprecedented in the long and hoary history of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet.
The two continuing Trustees have made an earnest request to the other Trustees to withdraw their resignations, as have a cross section of the community. Respecting these requests, the said four Trustees have agreed to favourably respond and rejoin the Board so that the working of the Trust is not disrupted.
Media releases did create some concern in the community. It is now agreed between us that any differences inter-se the Trustees, which may arise and are inevitable when there are six independent minded Trustees on the Board, will be amicably resolved within the confines of the Board Room.
With a view to restoring amity, the allegations made by all concerned against each other are unconditionally withdrawn as never having been made. Keeping the larger interests of the community in mind, guidelines for future smooth working of BPP inter-se the Trustees will be evolved.
During this unforeseen interlude we have received many valued suggestions from well meaning individuals and community elders. We are indeed beholden to them.
All of us are committed to serve the community with zeal and ensure smooth and harmonious working of the Trust as long as we are Trustees.
We believe maturity lies in resolving the situation among ourselves as we are best placed to evaluate and address the situation. This is what we have done in our collective wisdom to get on with the task we have undertaken.
