FOREWORD

This booklet attempts to provide a brief introduction of the legendary and documented history of Zoroastrianism and the message, vision, and view of the world according to the Prophet Zarathustra, as contained in the Gathas, the hymns composed by the Prophet himself. This primer is mainly intended to provide the basic reference material to the scout, the counselor, and the religious class teachers. For further research be aware that variations of the words and names used in this book exist. A few are reflected in this book but many more exist.

The comments expressed are suggestions and NOT intended to be definitive statements to be taken literally.

Zoroastrianism is, above all, a way of life; hence it is essential that what has been learned is practiced on a daily basis. Attitude is as important as knowledge, and needs to be translated into action, because the message of Zarathustra is action oriented.
