North American Mobed Council at the 2017 AGM

NAMC, a non-profit religious organization, was established to advance Zoroastrian teachings and values in North America. NAMC membership includes Mobeds/Priests that have been ordained in India and Iran. The NAMC was officially formed on April 14, 1990, when a group of Mobeds, from all over North America, gathered together in New York, to approve the constitution and the by-laws governing the Council, that was discussed and drafted a year earlier, in Montreal. The Mission of the NAMC is to promote the understanding and practice of the Zarathushti religion in North America and to promote the interests, welfare and professionalism of mobeds in North America.

Ervad Pervez P. Patel at the Inauguration of the Arbab Rustam Guiv Dar-E-Mehr

Pervez P. Patel has been our spiritual leader at ZAGNY since its inception in 1973. Fondly known as ‘apro dasturji” Pervez has been providing priestly duties for the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as well as all over the US when invited by families. He has graced our homes and has officiated over countless Jashans and religious ceremonies, celebrating happy occasions and providing solace on sad ones. His wife Katie always by his side. Over these years he has educated our young and has taught them our prayers at religious classes and this tradition is being continued by his daughter Avan and son-in-law Nevil. Pervez has dedicated his life to the service of his community with passion, greatest devotion and with the utmost of graciousness. On behalf of the entire Zarathushti community ZAGNY is proud to recognize and thank Pervez for his commitment, dedication and leadership.

Celebration of Prof Kaikhosrov D. Irani’s Legacy

It was not long ago, that we lost our beloved Professor Kaikhosrov D. Irani, a stalwart of our Zarathushti community.

We have been notified that the Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York (ZAGNY) is one of the beneficiaries of the “Kaikhosrov D. and Piroja K. Irani Trust”. The other beneficiaries are also other Zoroastrian organizations.

As remarked by Framroze K. Patel, Trustee and Executor of the will, “Kaikhosrov and Piroja have left nearly every penny of their estate for the benefit of the Zarathushti community”.  As such, it will be highly appropriate that the distribution to the beneficiaries takes place in the presence of other fellow Zarathushtis at an event befitting their legacy.
