ZAGNY Travel Subsidy for 6th World Zoroastrian Youth Congress in New Zealand

ZAGNY would like to encourage our youth to attend the 6th World Zoroastrian Congress to be held in Auckland, New Zealand at the end of the year.

As part of this initiative, we would like to provide an incentive for the trip by offering a subsidy of US$ 500 to those that are selected by ZAGNY, and who register and sign up for the Congress.

imageThose who wish to  apply need to submit to ZAGNY, no later than March 29th, 2015 a short essay of about 400 words describing why they would aspire to attend the Congress and what they would hope to see, learn and achieve by attending.

Selected individuals will be notified by ZAGNY by  April 5th, 2015.

This will allow the participants to sign up before April 12, 2015; which is the early bird deadline for the registration.

All participants submitting should first make sure that they meet all eligibility criteria as laid out by the hosts of the Congress. If you are over the maximum age, but are interested in attending, please let us know.

All participants need to be ZAGNY members in good standing for 2014 and 2015. Individuals who are above the age of 21 years need to be individual registered members of ZAGNY.

Post-Congress all selected youth who avail the ZAGNY incentive will be required to present a short talk of their trip at a future ZAGNY program.

We would encourage large participation of our local youth at this amazing event.

The New Darbe Mehr

Dear friends, as we approach the end of the year, donation plans become a priority both for personal and tax reasons.

We would like to request you to consider our "New NY Darbe Mehr" as a potential recipient, and even more so if your Company has a Matching Donation Plan.
 
We had set $3,000,000 as a target for December 31, 2012 and we’re playing catch-up. Your donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated and will make it possible for us to reach this target by the end of the year.
 
Also note that 2013 tax benefits may or may not be as donor friendly as in 2012, so please donate now.

Hurricane Sandy Follow Up

Post-hurricane sandy, today most of our community members are back to life as usual. But, there are a few families that were hit hard and are still working to get back on their feet and restore normalcy.

During the six weeks since ‘sandy’, ZAGNY has been closely involved in supporting the community and has reached out to and provided assistance to our members in distress. ZAGNY continues to offer succor to members in need.

If you would like to join ZAGNY’s ongoing efforts and show your support towards ‘sandy relief’, please send your check payable to ZAGNY (mention ‘hurricane sandy’ in the memo field), and mail to Kerman Dukandar, ZAGNY Treasurer, 96 Bernard Avenue, Edison, NJ 08837, no later than December 31, 2012. We thank you for your support.

If you / a community member in need, would like to request assistance, please contact secretary via email at secretary@zagny.org before January 15th, 2013. ZAGNY board would then evaluate the specific need and disburse the amount accordingly to the specific member or members or families by end of February 2013. If no one applies for the sandy relief fund then the collected amount would be allocated to ZAGNY’s critical assistance fund.

All requests for assistance will be kept strictly confidential.

Sign Up for Ivy Gandhi ZCAMP 2012 for ZAGNY Youth.

Welcome to the Ivy Gandhi ZCAMP 2012.

Yes folks, we are coming up to June very fast and that means the fun filled Youth camp. We had a terrific response at the last prayer class and already have 19 kids all set to go.

This camp is for 6-16 year olds from Friday evening, June 1 – 3rd, ending with the June religious class.

A good Friday night dinner will be followed by a hike on Saturday morning up Bear Mountain. Some of the younger children can climb halfway and then play by the lake.

After a scrumptious pizza meal on the way back, we will have a relaxing afternoon followed by a water fight, weather permitting. After dinner, we often light a large bonfire and have smores to everyone’s satisfaction. For Sunday morning, we plan a big brunch, followed by sports on the front lawn and cleanup, ending with circle time at the religious class.

This is a wonderful opportunity for getting the younger youth together, to have a great time, bonding together and forge friendships. We look forward to having all the youth participate. Please email shiroy@zagny.org for all confirmations and questions regarding the event.
