Dear NGO Representatives,

The 4th International Brain Health, Smile, Peace Olympiad (IHSPO) will be held in the United Nations, Conference Room 2, New York on Tuesday, 12 August 2008.
All NGOs associated with DPI and/or in consultative status with ECOSOC are invited to the Olympiad. This year’s Olympiad is entitled celebrating the potential of the brain. Olympiad events include: HSP Gym, HSP Speed Brain and HSP Brain Window.

The objective of this Olympiad is to promote understanding and regard for all people and respect for the earth, through a celebration of the potential of the human brain. The 1st and 2nd IHSPOs took place in 2005 and 2006 in Seoul, Korea. Hosted by Korea Institute of Brain Science (KIBS), they were supported by the Korean Ministries of Science and Technology and Education and Human Resources; the Korean National Committee for the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation. Last year, the 3rd IHSPO was held for the first time in North America under the joint sponsorship of IBREA and KIBS, and was co-hosted by Oscar Arias Sanchez, President of Costa Rica and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. Participants came from the Republic of Korea, the USA, Japan, the UK, Canada and the Russian Federation.
