PRIVATE SECTOR, PUBLIC SERVICE
Narges will provide a quick overview of her legal practice and talk more generally to discuss the current legal landscape for immigrants.
ABOUT NARGES:
Narges is a commercial litigator and partner at Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC. She represents clients in disputes involving commercial insurance claims, financial services and corporate governance. In addition, she handles asylum claims on behalf of victims of torture and persecution, has been helping indigent immigrants obtain political asylum and U visas, and serves as Mintz Levin’s Ombudsperson and helps manage the firm’s pro bono program.
Narges has been involved with pro bono immigration work for 15 years. Most recently, with the ACLU, she co-counseled a challenge to President Trump’s first travel ban. Narges also serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Womankind, a non-profit in NY that provides services to victims of domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault.
Narges is the recipient of numerous awards and most recently was listed by Crain’s as the “Leading Women Lawyers in New York City”.
Narges is married to Marc Merriweather, and is the mother of Cyrus (12), Zain (9) and Vincent, the family’s15 year old dog! Narges and her family are actively involved in the ZAGNY community, where Narges volunteers to teach our 4-year olds at the monthly religion class.
